…but they are buried at 72. That really hit home with me when I heard it once. Primarily because it’s true. Think about it, a majority of college graduates go to school and get their Master’s or Bachelors. They’re out by 25-30. They HOPEFULLY get a job they want…Then what happens? They stop dreaming. So they fall into the rut that most of us have before. They look to get that promotion. So they work harder. They want the new house, so they work harder and take more time away from their family to get “another promotion”. They do this day in and day out and before they know it…time’s up. What do they have to show for it? Well, for a majority of people…nothing. This is one of those articles where I really don’t know where to begin so it’s best I just let my fingers do the metaphorical typing. I’ve been in sales most of my life and maintaining communication with your customers and prospects has always made sense to me. Granted, I’m sure it makes sense to most people, especially those in marketing/sales. Recently however, I’ve gotten quite frustrated because I’ve come to the realization that many successful marketers seem to be so disconnected from their actual audience. Now, anyone with any type of financial burden is familiar with that stress…but do you know what compounds that frustration and stress? Thinking Positive – The Sedona Method

No, I’m not trying to be a jerk here. I’m making a point and hoping to tie it into a method I’ve recently discovered and have been applying called, The Sedona Method. Now, I’m not going to get into great details about The Sedona Method in this post (but I most likely will in a later post), I’m just relating my point with this method due to their unique correlation with each other. So allow me to clarify what I mean here. Of course, I don’t literally mean stop thinking positive. What I am implying is when people attempt to think positive thoughts, they are in fact bringing negativity into their lives. To sum it up; the Sedona Method is a scientifically proven technique that teaches you how not to “think positively” but how to “think positively correctly.” In doing so, you bring positive things into your life by letting go of fears, resistance and anxiety. The Dimplitude Factor

A few years back, I thought of the word “Dimplitude“. For fun I decided to do a google search for that term and it seems some other people have come up with that word as well. So unfortunately I can’t say I made up the word exclusively…but I can say that my definition of the word is different than any of the other definitions out there. So what exactly is dimplitude to me? Well, before I get into what it means, allow me to tell you about the origin. Over the last 10 years, I’ve been accustomed to wearing a tie and a nice shirt. I don’t always wear one like I used to. But multiple times a month I find myself putting on a nice shirt and wearing a matching tie to go along with it. Over the years, I’ve perfected the knot in my tie. Now, with the ties I personally like; I prefer the Full Windsor knot myself. There isn’t any “wrong” way to tie a tie mind you, I just personally like the way it looks. The “silver bullet” if you will. I’ve bought countless products, ebooks and have researched hundreds (if not thousands) of articles all over the internet. So do you want to know the secret? Food Just Tastes Better With Chopsticks

Yeah, I know… a silly title for a not-so-silly post. I’m a huge fan of Asian cuisine. Anywhere from Mongolian Beef all the way to Tako (Octopus Sushi). The flavors are exquisite, the textures are second to none and for me, it never gets old. Something I noticed though…is that I don’t enjoy it as much when I have to eat it with a fork. Has anyone else experienced this? Why is it that Asian food tends to just taste better with chopsticks? In fact… My youngest son has taken a likeness towards chopsticks more as a novelty so I sometimes let him eat other foods that weren’t necessarily made with chopsticks in mind. (AKA – Kraft Mac N’ Cheese, Waffles, Bacon) To further entertain myself and my son, I also sat down with him and attempted to eat these foods with chopsticks as well. Now even though we probably looked silly doing this…something happened. I was enjoying eating those foods more! Just like the Asian cuisine I eat…I was getting a little more enjoyment out of eating every day foods that were meant for your fingers or a fork and spoon. I asked myself why this was. Average Joe – What it Really Means

We’ve all been bitten by the “average bug” before. We’ve all had someone tell us that we were average in some way or the other. Being average at sports, at sales, at business, at cooking or anything else that comes to mind. However there is an even more dangerous “average bug” you have to look out for – YOURSELF. In this day and age, it saddens me to see that people are quite honestly “okay” being average. They are okay having an average house, an average career, an average income and an average life. What the hell are you people thinking?!  Here’s the definition of average from Merriam Webster: Definition of AVERAGE intransitive verb a : to be or come to an average (the gain averaged out to 20 percent) b : to have a medial value of (a color averaging a pale purple) With that said, let me tell you what being average REALLY means to me: Being average is being the BEST of the WORST and the WORST of the BEST. Selfish People – Like You and That’s Okay

I know… the title implies a little negativity, but hear me out. There are selfish people out there…and you’re one of em. I am, you are, everyone is. So allow me to explain myself. What do I mean by this? Well it’s quite simple, really. So let’s start off with the definition of being selfish and allow me to elaborate on what I feel my own definition is: Selfish People From the archives of Merriam Webster: “self·ish – adjective \ˈsel-fish\ 1 : concerned excessively or exclusively with oneself : seeking or concentrating on one’s own advantage, pleasure, or well-being without regard for others. 2 : arising from concern with one’s own welfare or advantage in disregard of others <a selfish act>. Now upon reading this definition. One can assume that if people are selfish then they have no regard for the feelings and welfare of others. In some cases, it’s completely true. But I have another outlook on selfishness and I would like to think it’s a little more relevant to the majority of the world’s population. So what do I mean by this? What do I mean when I say that people are selfish? Well, to explain that people are selfish I like to think of the word: “selfish” I relate it to a “What’s in it for me?” attitude. In other words, if I do something for someone else. Or if I strive to achieve something…what’s in for me? What do I get out of it? 80 20 – The Pareto Principle and Success

The Rule of 80 20 Many of you have probably heard the rule of 80 20. That is 20% of your effort accounts for 80% of your results. The Pareto Principle is based off of Vilfredo Pareto, who observed in 1906 that 80% of the land in Italy was owned by 20% of the population; he developed the principle by observing that 20% of the pea pods in his garden contained 80% of the peas. As simple as this sounds (even silly in some cases), you may be surprised at how fundamentally true this principle really is. Think about it, you can easily place yourself in a plethora of situations where the 80 20 rule applies. I’ve been in sales all my life and I know beyond a shadow of the doubt that 20% of my clients account for 80% of the total revenue made. In other words, for every 100 people…. only 20 of them are producing 80% of the results! Pretty crazy if you ask me! Now let’s look into the 80 20 rule a bit further… Let’s say you have a list 10 friends. Is it safe to say that 2-3 of them are your best and closest friends whereas the other 7-8 are more “buddies”?
