You’ve Got Questions? I’ve Got Answers.

Since I’ve started internet marketing, I’ve gotten a lot of great questions from people. So let’s dig right in with one that requires multiple answers, shall we? Q: “Hey Doug, for someone just starting out. What do I need to build a list?” A: Well, this goes back to one of my first emails I’ve ever sent. In order for you to build a list, you’re going to need the following: – An auto-responder. – A website. – A squeeze page. – Traffic. So let’s summarize what all this means starting with an auto-responder. (DISCLAIMER: Just so you know, the links below are affiliate links. Yes, I do make a commission if you click them, but these are all the products I personally use and would recommend. If you don’t wanna ‘hook a brother up’ feel free to google them instead. You’ll see they are the same price regardless. I ain’t no hater! 😛 ) Think of an auto-responder as a butler that delivers information to your house guests 24/7. This is arguably the most crucial of the bunch because without it, you have no viable means of getting information to your readers. (imagine me sending an email manually to 10,000 people…ain’t gonna happen.) I personally use Aweber. You can sign up for it and try it out for $1. (I think they are still doing that) and there are loads of tutorials to help you get started. http://www.ctrl-alt-success.com/marketing/aweber As far as a website is concerned, you’re going to need 3 things. A domain name. (www.yourdomainnameisthispart.com) A hosting package. (you need a place to ‘park’ your domain) A reliable system. (something that makes it easy to build pages) As far as...
Keyword Research – Understanding Profitable Keywords

Keyword Research – Understanding Profitable Keywords

When it comes to keyword research…chances are you’ve read a few guides out there, bought a few e-books or spent countless hours researching and trying to comprehend how keyword research even works. I was in the same boat and in most cases, I am still pretty new to it… but if you found this article through a search engine…it must be working, right? haha It’s safe to assume you already know how powerful keywords are for your website. If you don’t? Allow me to sum it up: Keywords are the words that users are searching for in search engines. If you rank well with a specific keyword, that means more people to your site. Easy enough? So let’s get down to business. Understanding the ins and outs, the tips and tactics; anywhere from optimizing your site to keyword research, the first thing you need is a keyword research tool. Now, there are a plethora of them out there. Some free, some premium, some amazing, some good and some just down right awful. Since there are countless options when it comes to keyword research, I just want to cover two. Why? Because one of them is free, (yes, 100% free) and the other is a premium keyword research tool that I use almost exclusively. Let me start off by saying I am not a seasoned veteran with keyword tools, so I’m going to avoid doing the standard comparisons on why one tool is better than the other because quite honestly, the bottom line is that whatever tool you choose; what matters is that it works for YOU. So let’s get...
Making a Website for Success

Making a Website for Success

If you have been looking to find ways to make a steady income online, you’ve probably already delved into ideas of making a website. The great news is that you have a limitless opportunity to make money with a website as long as you lay out the proper foundation first. The bad news…is that it’s going to take a little bit of effort on your part! Making a website IS easy, it just isn’t as easy as most “gurus” say. Too many “gurus” try to sell their products and services with the idea that they can set up a website for you in a matter of minutes and the money just starts pouring in. Sounds great right? Too bad it’s a lie. The truth is that making a website isn’t something you should just throw together. Making a website is like a home you are building for your family. Would you just throw some beams up, hammer some nails and say “TA-DA!”? Of course not, you’d want to find reputable contractors, electricians, plumbers, etc. to ensure your house was built properly to last for years to come. Making a website is the same concept, but instead of building it for shelter…you’re building it to do three things…and they sound so damn simple that people often overlook at least one of them. Ready?! 1.) Get traffic. 2.) Generate a subscriber base with that traffic. 3.) Monetize that traffic. (AKA – Traffic conversion into sales.) Yep, that’s it. There is no magic formula. In fact,  making a website is the EASIEST STEP! You might be thinking… “But Doug! I don’t know the first...
