Online Marketing Tips You Should Never Do

Online Marketing Tips You Should Never Do

Alright guys, look. Normally most of my articles are more about helping; a guide if you will. But today I felt it necessary to talk a little about what I’ve seen in the marketing world and what I disagree with. Some look for Online Marketing Tips, but to be honest, the tips are complete and utter garbage. The reason I feel it’s important to talk about, is because now that I’ve been doing this long enough and talking to the right people. I’ve started to see what so many marketers are doing wrong. So, instead of trying to offer a little nugget of information, I figured it may be more beneficial to list a few things that marketers should never do and why. 5 Things You Should NEVER Do as an Internet Marketer 1.) Blindly Post Offers on Facebook Groups and Other Social Network Sites All too often, I see newcomers to the marketing world post offers with “catchy” headlines followed by an affiliate link to multiple Facebook groups. Seriously, stop. If all it took to be successful in the IM World was to throw shit at a wall and hope something sticks, we’d all be filthy rich. This just doesn’t work. It never has, and never will. Sure, there may be some of you who could argue. I’m sure some of you have possibly made a sale or two this way, but chances are…that’s the only sale you’ve made from that particular person. Marketing isn’t about selling a product to a consumer, it’s about building a relationship to maintain a following of consistent buyers. Blindly throwing products and offers to people is the last thing you want to...
How Keurig Gave Me Marketing Concepts for Internet Marketing…

How Keurig Gave Me Marketing Concepts for Internet Marketing…

So there’s a Keurig coffee maching that came out that’s a newer model. The price tag on it is $200+ (depending on where you get it). I am now a proud owner of a Keurig. But this isn’t about buying a coffee machine… It’s about marketing concepts for internet marketing… You see, ever since the Keurig machines have come out, I thought they were cool. But I could never justify buying one. It wasn’t because they were too expensive. Or because I didn’t want one. It was because I drink WAY too much coffee and I’d end up spending easily 40-50 bucks a week on their coffee packs. To me, it doesn’t matter how much money I make. I don’t like the idea of wasting money. So now we fast forward to my bachelor party. I ended up getting all of my groomsmen specific gifts to our friendship. One of those gifts was a Keurig. Symbolizing the late nights at a local restaurant we spent together drinking coffee. He was very happy with the gift and told me he had wanted one for ages. I told him that I could never get one for the reasons I mentioned above. He then told me that Keurigs have adapters that are reusable that I can use my own coffee in them. WHAT!? I immediately had a NEED for a Keurig. So I went out and bought one. The moral of this story is that a $15 solution gave me a NEED to buy a $200 piece of equipment. And that my friends, is precisely why it is like Internet Marketing. Many people see a product that they KNOW can benefit them. But there’s...
You Know How to Get Leads, Now What?

You Know How to Get Leads, Now What?

Whether you’re brand new to the marketing world or a seasoned veteran. The only thing holding you back from untold riches and a job-quitting lifestyle is traffic. It’s the life blood of any marketing endeavor; getting more eyes/ears in front of your product or offer. But what good is traffic and what good are the leads you’re getting if you have absolutely no method of following up with them or communicating with them? So it begs the question…After you learn how to get leads, what do you do now? Fear not, young padawan. It’s actually easier than you think. Allow me to start off with what I think you SHOULD NOT do. For starters, don’t expect your email broadcasts/followup sequences to do all the work for you. Sure, if you have a large enough list and/or an incredible sales funnel in your follow up sequence, you’ll get a few sales. But as I wrote in a recent article, I believe email is dying. “On Sunday the 16th of March at 2PM Central Time, I’ll be holding a free webinar that talks about getting leads, making your first few $’s online and more. Click the link below to register.” Register for my FREE Webinar So what do you do? What methods and techniques do you use to contact these leads of yours and turn them into buyers? In order to understand how, we need to understand who these people are. They are people. Yes, they are just like you and I. They are sitting in front of a computer screen or a phone, reading an email, clicking a link...
The Dreaded Freebie Seekers – And How to Handle Them

The Dreaded Freebie Seekers – And How to Handle Them

Allow me to be perfectly blunt. Freebie Seekers are incredibly frustrating. They are tire kickers. They are time wasters and they will suck the life out of your business before you ever get it off the ground. You may be thinking, “Doug, what gives you the right to say that about them?” Well, first of all…I used to be one. (BAM!) So allow me to also explain that when I say those things, that it does NOT mean they are bad people that you should avoid like the plague. The bottom line is that the freebie seeker is unavoidable. They will always show up in some form or another. The key to “getting rid” of them. Is to help them see the light. I can almost guarantee that every freebie seeker expects something for nothing because that is the message 99% of the “make money online” products deliver. Whether it’s something along the lines of: “Free Leads = $1,000’s of dollars a month!” “I’ll teach you how to be successful or I’ll give you a million dollars!” or, “For only $10, you can start a multi-million dollar empire!” Granted, I’m being a little facetious here. But I trust you get what I’m saying. So how do you help the freebie seeker see the light? Well, for starters, you have to deliver an honest message. In one of the articles I wrote, I discussed 5 things I wished I had known when I first started marketing online. But it doesn’t just stop there. You have to offer help and advice, but at the same time, not give away the farm so to...
5 Things I Wished I Knew Starting Out In Internet Marketing

5 Things I Wished I Knew Starting Out In Internet Marketing

When I first got into internet marketing, I made a ton of mistakes (I still do). Unfortunately, there wasn’t anyone to really guide me. With that said, I want to offer a little insight. 1.) It Takes Work. Let’s be honest here. Marketing takes work. Unfortunately, nearly every single marketing product, post or article tells you otherwise (the warrior forum is especially guilty of this.) Here’s the deal, guys. Making money online is easy, but there’s a little secret to it…and it’s called persistance. Listen, you could literally sell any product or offer out there if you consistently stay consistent. That may sound cliche, but that’s really all there is to it. Don’t let WSO copy suck you in. Which leads me to… 2.) If it sounds too good to be true… It probably is. Look, when I first started in the marketing business, I got sucked in by the copy of too many products to count. I had spent hundreds of dollars on products because they promised me the world. Whether it was promising little to no work, or thousands of dollars a month in two weeks or less. I bought into it and was inevitably let down. Like an Alzheimer patient, though…I was left wondering what I was doing wrong. This ties directly into number 1. Making money takes work. But the process is simple. 3.) Don’t overcomplicate things. Internet marketing isn’t complicated. You can literally sum it into 4 steps. – Find/Create a product. – Drive traffic to that product. – Have a process to follow up with your leads. – Profit. That’s all there is to it. Really. == NOTE:  Even though these...
