5 Things You Should Ask Yourself When Starting An Online Business

Something many of you have thoughts abut at one point in time. Chances are the reason you’re reading this is because you’ve been thinking of starting one soon.

But starting an online business isn’t all peas and carrots. (or candy and cake, whichever metaphor suits you.)

It’s not a decision you should take lightly. Whether you want to start internet marketing or start an e-store selling merchandise, there are a few things you really need to ask yourself.

Questions to Ask Yourself When Starting An Online Business:

1.) Are you passionate about WHAT your business is about?

Look, if you’re not passionate about the reason you’re starting a business online; or the product you’re marketing…then you’re going to fall flat on your ass.

The fact is you need to believe in your business before trying to get other people to believe in your business.

2.) Are you passionate about WHY you’re starting an online business?

Just as you need to be passionate about whatever you’re promoting and marketing…even more importantly you need to be passionate about your “why”.

If you’re starting a business just to make money…guess what? You’re not going to make any money.

You need to find a burning desire as to why you’re starting up and it cannot just be for monetary gain. Perhaps you’re trying to take care of your family and friends? Perhaps it’s merely a vehicle to fund another project you’re passionate about.

For me? It’s to make sure my future bride (November 16th of this year I’m getting married) and my children are taken care of. I want to leave a legacy for my family if anything were to ever happen to me.

3.) Have you written down any goals?

If you haven’t written down any goals on paper; and I mean physically written them down on a piece of paper…then they are just dreams.

A goal is a dream with a deadline.

You need to write out a goal timeline. At the very least write down a 3 month, 6 month and 12 month plan. Figure out what you want to have at those times, then figure out a way to get there.

It may seem a little overwhelming at first, so it may even help to break your goals down to week increments. As long as your making progress, you’re making progress.

4.) Do you give up easily?

If you’re starting an online business, you’re going to make a lot of mistakes; and I mean a LOT of mistakes. The key is you cannot let them bring you down. If you fall down 7 times, you need to get up 8 times.

If every successful person in the history of the world gave up when they faced even their hardest obstacle, the world would be a very, very depressing place.

5.) Do you have a support group?

No, I’m not asking you to join alcoholics anonymous or the local rehab center. But if you’re going to be successful, you’re going to need to associate yourself with successful people.
